Jojoba is not an oil #37

Fun facts you probably didn’t know!

What we know:

Most commonly known as jojoba oil is a golden liquid made from the jojoba bean. A plant native to Southwestern North America, it was highly valued by the Native Americans of the Sonoran Desert as a potent balm for skin ailments and a skin restorer.

It has the ability to mimic the natural sebum produced by the scalp and skin which in turn helps regulate natural sebum production. This prevents dandruff and acne.

So if it is not an oil what is it?

Unlike vegetable oils and animal fats, jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) oil is not a triglyceride but a mixture of long chain esters (97–98%) of fatty acids and fatty alcohols, and therefore is more properly referred to as a wax; however, jojoba oil-wax is the term in general use.
