Hello, darling introduce yourself.
Hi! My name is Farah and I’m Palestinian/Jordanian living in San Francisco, California!
How long have you been a fierce natural girl and what made you do this choice?
I’ve been natural for about three years now. Before that, I used to straighten my hair all the time and it was extremely damaged. I decided to embrace my natural curls when I started to realize that I could lose my curls for good if I didn’t start taking care of them! A huge part of my transition was also inspired by all the beautiful women rocking their natural curls.
Have you ever cut your hair super short or did you ever transition and how did you overcome that?
When I decided to transition back to my natural hair, I knew I had to chop off a good chunk of hair. I didn’t mind it all! I loved it and prefer to keep it short since then! After a few big cuts, all the damaged bits are gone.
How would you describe your hair texture?
I have fine, medium density, normal to high porosity hair! I have very tight 3C curls!
Tell us about your hair colour, how do you achieve it, and has it affected your hair negatively?
Before I decided to transition, I had bleached and dyed my hair. That was the last time I dyed my hair, unfortunately, my fine curls can’t handle bleach or dye and I lost my tight curls for a while. I just keep my natural colour now!
Which products do you use to wash and style your hair?
I recently started using Shea Moisture curl and shine shampoo and conditioner, then adding curl enhancing smoothie following with DevaCurl B’leave in.
What are your favourite hairstyles?
If not natural, then definitely space buns or just one sleek bun.
Tell us two things that helped you get the hair you have now.
Deep conditioning once a week made a HUGE difference. I used Shea Moisture deep conditioners or Maui moisture.
Tell us 2 don’ts for your hair.
I can’t put too much product, or it will be weighed down and lose all volume because of how fine it is! I also must wait an hour after a wash day to diffuse my hair, and I can’t touch it or separate curls until it’s completely dry. Otherwise, I have lots of frizz.
